SUPPLEMENT TO THE VITKHVlL INTELLIGENCER OF WASHINGTON FRIDAY OCTOBER 28 1853

PROPOSALS FOR CARRYING THE MAIL Proposals for carrying the mail of the United States from the 1st day of July 1854 to the 1st of July 1858 in the State of California and in the territories of Oregon, Utah and New Mexico will be received at the Contract Office of the Post Office Department in the city of Washington until 9 A. M. of the 3d day of April 1854 to be decided by the 28th of April 1854 by routes and in the times herein specified viz.

IN CALIFORNIA From San Francisco by Benicia to Sacramento City 125 miles and back six times a week. Leave San Francisco daily except Sunday at 4 p. m. Arrive at Sacramento City by 5 a. m. next day. Leave Sacramento City daily except Sunday at 4 p. m. Arrive at San Francisco by 5 a. m. next day.

From San Francisco by Martinez, Marsh's Landing and New York to Stockton 125 miles and back six times a week. Leave San Francisco daily except Sunday at 4 p. m. Arrive at Stockton by 5
