CHANGE ROAD PUN TO SAVE 5 HOUSES Location of War and Navy Departments Debated by Park Commission i. The National Capital Park and Plan ning Commission in order to save five houses from destruction yesterday al tered plans for widening Piney Branch road between Butternut street and the District line. The width will be 90 in stead of 130 feet Action of the commission was taken on recommendation of Maj John C Gotwals Engineer Commissioner of the District who explained that by making the road 90 feet wide all of the houses between Butternut street and the Dis trict line will be saved with the excep tion of two. The change will be made on the west side Other Changes Approved.

The commission also approved a number of other changes in the high way plans as follows Nebraska avenue near American University straightened out the old plan near Tunlaw road and Thirtyninth street altered to provide that as an apartment house has been developed on the summit the old street will be eliminated there Broad Branch road and Loughborough road altered on the plan to conform to the topography in that area the street plan closed where it interferes with.
