JULY 31 1937 lThe Brighter Silel 1 e o Pt masts e j. Mr Clifford Pope has written a book anukes Alive and. How They Live which contains much inter esting information about snakes. Mr Pope as we gather is what they call a herpetophile or snake enthusiast.

Mr Grantland Rice the sports writer is one of those things too though perhaps not to the same extenf that. Mr Pope is Snakes completely fascinate. Mr Grantland Rice It may be that to. Mr Rice snakes are an escape after his years of association with the characters of sport.

In any event Mr Rice will walk miles to view a snake and will listen for hours to snake stories. The taller the stories the more. Mr Rice appreciates them. He will like Mr Popes bock and so will all other snake lovers of which we are not one.

We frankly loathe and despise snakes. We do not care to even peer at them when they are safely caged while a snake at large in the underbrush will cause us to leave his precinct fast er than a greyhound can trot Snakes give us a creepy feeling. Mr Pope is rather kindly.
