While in San Francisco we had been shown the photograph of Eulalia Perrez of Los Angeles the oldest woman in the worldand now finding ourselves in the close vicinity we resolved on pay ing her a visit. Mr Baldwin accordingly drove us to her house a quaint old brown adobe structure with a projecting roof sloping steeply from the centre and two or three old winevats built against the walls.
We mounted to a piazza where we were met by a very pretty and very typical Spanish girl wear ing a high comb and speaking English with a very charming accent.
