KIGKIERBREVJS EIND FAVOR IN NEW YORK NEW YORK Dec 7 1N5 New York got down to its serious drinking today as the populace continued to take repeal seri ously rather than hilariously. With more licenses granted and ttie supply of legal beverages beginning to flow smoothly from warehouses the clinking of glass ware and the popping of corks took its routine place as a part of family life Beers Kick Kickier Broadway Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue staged their second night of the new drinking era. With restaurants and hotels crowded Again there were few signs of drunkenness Dynamic beer containing 4 to 6 per cent alcohol made its debut and there was much smack ing of lips as the result Hotels predicted the depression was over for them Drinking rooms of various hostelries were thronged. The cocktail hour drew many unescorted women.

The ban on drinking at bars was openly defied in many in stances Rolling bar wagons were used generally and generously Big Stores Thronged. The liquor sections of depart ment stores were stormed by purchasers most of them women. The licensed liquor stores were patronized by men. The war against the speak easies got under way with.
